Our winery is a lovingly renovated tobacco barn that has been on the farm since 1957. Originally used to store, hang, and dry tobacco, it is now converted into our winery production area, cellar, and tasting room.
We produce approximately 1,000 cases of hand crafted wines yearly. Our wines are fermented, aged, and bottled on our farm property. In addition to managing our own vines, we occasionally source fruit from other locally owned Maryland vineyards as well. We take great pride in growing our own quality fruit, making premium wines, and in supporting other Maryland growers when we can.
We hope you enjoy the flavor of our local wines as much as we do. Cheers!
In addition to our regular Tasting Room Activities we offer Wine Tasting Events.
Winery & Tasting Room
The winery production area in the barn used to be structured in the original style of Southern Maryland tobacco barns, with one central aisle down the middle and tongue-and-groove beams filling either side from head height, to the top of the barn roof. This is where the tobacco used to hang and dry after harvesting. Now, the inside of the barn is completely renovated for state-of-the-art winery production.
Our wine cellar is a unique and sentimental feature. Reached by a gentle downward sloping ramp in the corner of the barn, it is a small cinder block room that was originally the ‘tobacco stripping room’ . The stripping room is where our family would strip the leaves off the stalk, divide it into grades, and bind it in ‘hands’. All of this helped prepare the tobacco for sale. This work was often done in winter, so farmers had stripping rooms built inside to withstand the weather. Our family, and sometimes other farmhands and helpful friends, would gather in the stripping room around the old wood stove and work together until the job was done. In keeping with our family traditions, we have preserved the stripping room and turned it into our barrel cellar.
The tasting room is a new addition that was built onto the side of the tobacco barn and was designed to complement the historic structure. The décor was carefully selected and handpicked to reflect the farms history and our family legacy. Paneled in original barn wood and beams, with a welcoming fireplace, and a large wrap around front porch that overlooks the vineyard, it emanates a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
